Costa Azul Trail – Outward side of Island
This trail includes almost deserted beaches, spectacular and attractive viewpoints located on the outward side of the island facing out to sea. This trail is almost entirely inside the National Marine Park, with more wild and reserved landscapes. Our itinerary passes through the viewpoints of Caracas, Maré Gráfica, São Joaquim do Sueste fort and to the deserted beach of Leão, where we will have a stop for swimming according to the sea conditions. We continue to Baia do Sueste beach, a great spot for snorkeling with marine animals, including large turtles. This is a place where the turtles feed and reproduce, so it is quite common to spot them.
Then we go by car to the other side of the island, to visit Caieira beach, Buraco da Raquel, full of sharks and finally, Ponta do Air France, a special place, where the outside sea meets the inside sea. The trail passes through sandy terrains, with rocks and light climbs, demanding a little from the visitor.
